HELLO....

I'M TASH

I DESIGN, PHOTOGRAPH, TYPOGRAPH, TEACH, DRAW, DRIBBLE & GENERALLY DANCE LIKE NOBODY'S WATCHIN (which is prob a good thing--see my robot dance for evidence...)

IF YOU WERE GOING TO DESIGN A SWEET-what would it be?

I like sweet wrappers- more than I like sweets, in fact I am often found buying sweets just to give them away as I’m a sukker for a brightly coloured font and shiny foil… OHHHH or a name….- I mean who can resist a “wiener nougat”. I would love to work in a candy wrap store designing the likes of Honeydukes dreams…..

BUT my favourite will always be Chupa Chups- The Salvador Dali designed logo just put sweet sweet love in my saccharine saturated heart.

Legend has it, it took him an hour to design on a napkin in in 1969 after the owner of Chupa (which translates literally “to suck”) was moaning about the designs he had so far…..

And the bright flower was born from doodles on newspapers that were in the cafe.

Acutely aware of presentation, Dalí insisted that his design be placed on top of the lolly, rather than the side, so that it could always be viewed intact. It’s proved to be one of the most enduring pieces of branding ever and one that’s still used today, four billion sales later.

So there you go- be in the right place at the right time, be keen and get going, it can take 5 mins or 5days to create but if it works it works…. (OK yes Dali was pretty famous- but thats not the point Im making here) live your ideas- doodle on napkins, scribble on post its- just get those ideas up n out there….

Viva le Chupa Chups

Oh and I would design a savoury sweet… maybe Marmite&Apple… a lolly… Im thinking of the name…
